Lots of cutting...

Hi, how is your week going?  It is all go here with another couple of quilts underway.

Firstly, I have finally cut into my 'The Birds and The Bees by Tula Pink' collection.  It is now cut into 360 pieces of glorious colour.  I searched for ideas on using this fabric for a while.  I wanted something that I could really show off the fabric design.  In the end I took a look at Tula Pink's book and found the Dream Weaver quilt design.  I felt this design was perfect to show off the larger prints and to allow as much detail in the fabric to come through.  It is amazing the small details in this collection when you look closely at it.

I have the fabrics laid out in the order they are going to be sewn.

I have managed to get blocks of 3 sewn together so far.  I am really eager to get back in the sewing room to get these sewn into columns.

Then I have the HSTs which I shared last week.  I have made a start and have 2 HSTs sewn together.  It is tricky getting the corners to align exactly.  I did a lot of unpicking and in the end moved on to another project.  I know I will have to go back to them, and I will.  I just think I am going to have to do this in small periods of time.  I find unpicking frustrating and to spend a day doing that will drive my crazy. 

So this is how it turned out the majority of the time, always a couple of millimetres out.

And this was as close as I could get them.  It's still not perfect but I am happy enough with it.

Monday's Inspiration

I have had a great start to the week, got a new quilt top pieced together.  I will share photos once I've had a chance to get some.

This week's inspiration comes from my wonderful, handy Dad.  I'm sure he shakes his head every time we come up with some new idea.

I had been in search of some way to store my threads.  On my travels in cyberspace I had come across this thread holder which looked easier enough.  Then I came across this thread holder tutorial which as luck would have it I had a frame that I could recycle, so that solved that.

I love the rainbow of colours across the holder.  I just need a few more to fill it.  It will eventually be hung on the wall next to my sewing machine but we don't need to rush these things :)

Inspiration Monday

Hi all, hope you all had a great past week.

Last week I spent a lot of time on Pinterest which I've only recently discovered.  There are so many great ideas and inspiration a plenty.  If you haven't already checked it out head on over there.  The best part is creating boards where you can store all the great ideas.

Inspiration Monday

Today's inspiration is in the form of fabric that arrived last week.  I am always so excited when a parcel of fabric arrives and am straight into it.  Just take a look at these beauties!!

I am in love with the Fly A Kite collection. I can't wait to cut into these for a kids quilt.

Here is a bundle of Field Study by Anna Marie Horner.  I have cut into this today to start the next quilt.  Unfortunately I made a booboo on one cut (so annoying) so now I'll have to wait to sew up this one.

Fabrics were from Hawthorne Threads.

Inspiration Monday

Welcome to the start of another week.  Monday is such a great day for gathering inspiration for the week ahead.

I love everything about colour.  Hence my fabric addiction and love for great photos.  For this reason I am loving Design Seeds.  They post fantastic photos with colour combinations found within the photo.  So stay tuned for a weekly post of my favourite colour combinations from the previous week.
