WIP Wednesday

It has been a while since I've checked in so I have a few things to share today.

I have made a little progress on the Rapid City quilt with a few more blocks completed.  Other blocks can be found here.  I am slowly getting there.

For my second WIP.  I have joined a few rows of hexagons.  I found the hexagons were quick to make but sewing them all together is taking me some time.  I have been sewing them when I get a chance to watch tv and am not too tired to focus.

I would love to know how small you do your whip stitch when joining them.  I have been doing them quite small as I want the hexagons to eventually be a cushion cover but I am wondering whether I am going a little crazy.

And for something new to show I have started work on a cot quilt.  This one is an order from a family member and her only guidelines were for it to be purple and green.

I've used the Abracadbra Quilt pattern along with a Posy by Aneela Hoey layer cake.  I love the colours in this collection and I think this quilt design really shows off the cute patterns.  I have added some Kona  Lavender blocks to bring out the purple more as well.

I included a couple of photos as the ones I took outside look a little washed out.

I am linking to WIP Wednesday and Fabric Tuesday.

  4. I love that new Posy line. I really like the prints on your hexagons. I have only attached hexis to background that were going to be quilted, so I didn't get too crazy on the whip stitching.

  6. Love the hexies! I was wondering the same thing when stitching my hexagons together. I think the smaller the stitches, the smoother it looks on the front.

  10. Wow, that sure is a lot of stitches! I am in NO way an expert as I'm still convinced on the fun that is hexies, but I do maybe half that? And so far, no problems.

  11. I love your EPP project. I've got some Rose Star action going on as well. That's a lot of stitches, though. I tend to err on the side of too many as well, but I overheard Katy Cameron at Sewing Summit admonishing folks for stitching unnecessarily close ;-P

  12. I whip stitch my hex's as close together as yours look, so they look smooth on the front..no gaps..if you are planning on quilting along beside these seams..you could stitch more loosely I think. A cushion may get a lot more use..depending on how your family uses cushions..mostly it is how you like how the front looks.
